PCMIS at the Heart of WorkWell Success
Nearly 3000 people supported. Hundreds helped to stay in or return to work.
Black Country Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (BCHFT) is celebrating a major milestone for its WorkWell service, as the internal delivery team surpasses expectations by achieving 106% of its first-year target. Launched to support individuals in improving their health and wellbeing while remaining in or returning to employment, the service has already demonstrated significant impact across local communities. Through its tailored, person-centred approach and strong collaboration with partner organisations, WorkWell has exceeded anticipated reach, highlighting both the growing demand for the service and the high quality of support being delivered.
Central to this success is the integration of PCMIS, our digital case management pathway underpins the service by enabling streamlined referrals, efficient case tracking, automated reporting aligned with DWP and measurable outcomes. By supporting seamless participant journeys and reducing administrative burden, PCMIS allows teams to focus on delivering tailored, person-centred care. Together with strong partnership working and a collaborative approach, this has enabled WorkWell to exceed its anticipated reach, highlighting both the growing demand for the service and the high quality of support being delivered.
Reaching and exceeding these milestones is a testament to the dedication of our teams and partners across the Black Country. Behind every figure is a person who has received the support they need to improve their health, stay in work, or take positive steps back into employment. PCMIS has played a key role in supporting the delivery of the WorkWell programme, providing a shared platform that enables services to manage referrals, track outcomes and coordinate support effectively, helping ensure individuals receive the right support at the right time.
Richard Mettrick, WorkWell Team Manager

Seeing the impact Black Country Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust’s WorkWell service has had in such a short period of time is inspiring. Behind the numbers are thousands of people who have been given the support they need to stay in work, return to work, or take positive steps forward in their lives… that’s lives truly changed
“We’re incredibly proud that PCMIS has been able to support the programme, helping teams work more efficiently and giving them the information they need to deliver the right support at the right time. Our goal is to remove administrative barriers and provide services with the tools they need to focus on what matters most, the people they support.
“As the national programme expands, we’re excited about what’s next – working with more partners, improving how services connect and collaborate, and helping more people access the support they need to stay healthy, stay in work, and move forward with confidence.
